“Individually we are one drop, together we are an ocean”
A motto comes to life in a unique vibe of enthusiasm, creativity and teamwork – 10,000 visitors witnessed an incredible first-hand experience last weekend during the 3rd National Educational Robotics Contest, FIRST® LEGO® League Greece, organized by eduACT for children aged 9-16 years and, for the first time ever in Greece, the Jr. FIRST® LEGO® League Greece robotics competition, for ages 5-9 years old.
Highlighting ideals and values, such as team work, cooperativeness, fair play and dignified professionalism, and designed to encourage children into science and technology, while teaching them valuable life skills, EduACT – Action for Education is mainly based on the voluntary action of young entrepreneurs, scientists, IT specialists and educators, as well as dozens of volunteers, offering their skills and services in an inexhaustible mood for an entertainment experience that will remain unforgettable.
The NOESIS Science Center and Technology Museum in Thessaloniki was literally… flooding with cheers, music, games, innovative ideas and robotics, as seventy groups of 850 kids travelled from 25 cities all around Greece to take part in the contest – among them, the awesome kids from the special Kindergarten and Elementary schools, the “Sera” group consisting by unaccompanied refugee children, hosted in Childcare Association and many more special attendances!
EduACT’s founder and leader, Mr. Kostas Vasileiou, tireless event host and journalist, Mr. Spyros Haritatos, led the numerous crew of volunteers that worked hard to bring this wonderful journey to an end. DIOS Natural Mineral Water wants to congratulate everyone involved in this significant event and is proud to be another “drop in the ocean”, supporting it as the Action Message Sponsor!
We have already marked our calendars for next year’s event by quoting Mrs. Angeliki Papa, a Greek teacher included in the Top 50 list of candidates for the Varkey Foundation 2016 Global Teacher Prize, “This is Greece as we deserve it!”
